A Happy Halloween

Its Halloween week and everything is in full swing~
Spook Alley's~
Corn Mazes~
Straw Mazes~
Pumpkin Walks~

I made Pumpkin cookies last week
but discovered something interesting;
I like them plain,
Honey likes them only with nuts,
Tiny Dancer's Mommy likes chocolate chips,
Tiny Dancer just likes cookies.

My Sister's and all our kids used to get together to go

Trick or Treating
We would meet and go together.
The treat I miss the most is
Donna Goodwin's
Homemade popcorn balls!

She gave us the recipe
but hers just tasted best!!
We liked them so much that after the kids were grown
we mom's would still go there on Halloween for the visit and the popcorn balls.

Now We have Grandchildren who dress up.
We were very happy to get pictures of...

~Wolverine~

~Tough Guy Cop~

~Yoda~

And first smiles!!!

Last week we headed back to the straw maze...
Where Tiny Dancer ran...
And ran...
Like the wind!!

She climbed...

And slid...

And scared this ol Gram half to death!!

So from our house to yours we are happy to send

Smile and Remember;
We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.

I was just thinking about...

-Halloween-
We have been having fun with 'ponekins' and straw mazes,
We are being scared regularly since Mommy taught Tiny Dancer to say,
"BooOOooOOOoo..."
Really scary like.
Right down to the scary fingers!!!
She feels Particularly scary when we all scream and run- or hide...
Makes this little goblin bust up laughing.
~Christmas~
In June I started working on Christmas gifts...
because when you do things by hand-it takes a little more time.
But one of the beautiful things about homemade gifts-that I think people often don't take into consideration is that the person making the gift has thought about you the whole time!
then I saw a blog title a bit ago stating that there were only 12 weeks until Christmas, and you had better start now to get everything done!!!
But I got thinking that I'm glad I did start early-otherwise I would be finding myself in a world of hurt.
So far I haven't had to start the late night gift working-
I am prepared to do that if I must.
But since June I have been knitting...

And knitting...
And KniTTinG...

I've been crocheting...as much as I have been knitting!

I have thrown a few sewing projects in...
you know, to break up the finger cramping and shoulder aching...
This little project was...interesting...
I like bags-I like bags a lot-
I am a touch embarrassed to admit that I have an assortment of bags-
and yet I continue to collect them.
I have bags for my knitting-
I have bags for my crochet-
I have bags for my cross stitch-
And bags for my books-
I have fancy bags and simple bags-
I have large and small bags...
Full and empty bags are in there too-
I hope this admonition doesn't cause you to lose sleep...
-Fall Rituals-
Uncle Rusty has been so good about making sure we have had enough Johnathan apples this Fall for apple scrapple~
I went to a cooking class a friend of mine was doing and she had lots of apple recipes,
among them was one for an apple cake.
Honey and I had never had an apple cake-
so we tried it out...
we have a new favorite to add to our other favorites now.

~And old age~
I confess again...
I must be full of confessions today...
That I have been having a struggle for some time with the fact that I look less like this than I ever have...
And I'm feeling more like this...
Than I ever thought possible...
So while I sit and knit to the smell of apples baking,
waiting for Miss scary fingers to wake up from her nap,
I shall contemplate these and other deep things...
And I shall smile and Remember;
We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.

I LoVE pictures!!!

Its true. I do.

I saw a picture of my oldest son on his facebook and I liked it so much I got it for my very own.

I thought how this picture captured him so well...I could almost hear him saying he can't wait until tomorrow...because he gets better lookin' each day. I like the raise of his brow and the tilt of his chin...

Then I remembered a picture I got this week of Tiny Dancer and pulled them both up together and got to looking at the the similarities...

The family resemblances as it were.

Then I got thinking about other pictures in my vast photo vaults and got to matching things up there...

The other day my self professed favorite cousin came to show me his new scooter and talk about how his dialysis is going, that he had to miss the special Olympics this year because of it and about the good old day's that he remembers better than I do.

He told me how he waves at the front porch every time he goes past the house I grew up in, just because it seems like "Yer Dad" should be out sittin' on it..."

It made me think how much "Stokes" they both have in their looks...so I asked him if I could take his picture and he laughed and let me...then I found one of the last pictures taken of my Dad...out on the front porch.

Then others started coming to mind and I went on a search and found...
A mother and daughter...
Auntie and Nieces...

I am finding this pretty interesting, is it the smile, the nose, the eye's, the voice?
Or is it the mannerisms...The laugh, the stance, the walk?

I'm not sure, but it's keeping this simple little mind of mine busy finding pictures that fit this category.
While I do so enjoy pictures and photography...
I do other things besides pictures. Just in case you were wondering.
I took pictures to prove it ha, ha, ha...
We know the weather is going to eventually make the canyon less desirable to travel so this week Tiny Dancer and I made a trip to some of her favorite places to go.
The book store is always good to visit often-books and stories are a necessity.

Every chance you get you should take a child into a pet store.
Especially if that child loves the fish.
And the birds.
And the turtles and frogs.
Don't forget the cats and mice...
And the dog's coming for school to learn to behave...

Fall is the time of year that triggers the need to smell baking things like bread, apple scrapple, apple cakes and pumpkin pie's.
So a trip to one of the local fruit stands along the famous fruit belt brought the Johnathan apples and Sugar pumpkins...
it also brought a surprise!!!

A straw maze and pumpkin walk!!
Her first. It was a hit!

We were the only ones there and so we had the run of the place...
and run we did. Until our fingers were frozen and our noses were red.

And I discovered that I can take some pretty ok pictures with my phone!!!
Camera's.
Don't leave home without at least one.

Remember;
We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.

Wonderful World

One of my all time favorite songs is
"What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong...
I see trees of green........ red roses too
I see them bloom..... for me and for you
And I think to myself.... what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue..... clouds of white
Bright blessed days....dark sacred nights
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world.
The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces.....of people going by
I see friends shaking hands.....sayin, how do you do
Theyre really sayin......i love you.
I hear babies cry...... I watch them grow
They'll learn much more.....than I'll never know
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world.
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself .......what a wonderful world.
I seem to notice the world and things more when the season's change
and I find once again that indeed we do live in a wonderful world.
The weather turned cold really fast this year and with it came the first snow's...

Beautiful clouds...

The leaves didn't have much of a chance to change this year.
Lots have already gone-
Some have changed, or were trying to.
I was cold and not as happy to see the snow as some-
when in walks my son-in-law with this beautiful rose for me!
He was saying "I love you".
And I love him too-for many reasons!

"Yes I think to myself,...'What a wonderful world'.
Ohhh, yeahh."

We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.
Encourage each other!!!
