BuSY, bUsy, BUsy

Is what I have been!!
I finished the rug I was crocheting for Aunt Mert's 85th Birthday present. She loved it by the way and was going to take it home and put it right to use!
I'm really not sure what she likes best the wooden nickle I gave her a few years ago or the rug...I love Aunt Mert!

Her are some pictures of the finished rug-it is a little...well, off, but that is because it is hand made and there was no pattern used.
That's my story an I'm stickin' to it!!

Here is a close up of the colors,
This is just a really close up of what the stitches look like.
I have a few of these rugs around my home and I love them-they are very nice and thick and best of all I can throw them in the washer and dryer and viola! Just like new.

Another fun thing we have started doing is going for play dates at a friend around the corners home once a week and the day's between we play on the swing and in the sand pile Gramp got for her in the back yard.
We have also been trying to go for a walk every morning-that's more for Me than her, but it has this same effect on both of us ;)

Honey and I went to a "Family Get Together" It wasn't really a planned reunion, but there were a lot of Honey's family in the area for other family reunion's and so we got together for a family picnic.
This is Honey's Mom and Aunt Ora, she will be 92 this year and is still living in her own home and very active!
If I ever reach that age I hope I'm doing that well!!
One of Honey's family owns land on the Bear River Bottoms in Preston and they have made a beautiful park area for themselves and shared that as the place for what turned out to be a bigger group than they thought would be coming-
We laughed and talked and thought we should really plan a full out family reunion in the near future since this impromptu lunch turned out so big-It may take a few years for us to remember and get to work but we will be looking forward to it, and I am secretly hoping it will be in Oregon again...

Hummmm...?

Whell, I just want you to know that I have not just been sitting around because it's to hot to do anything else.
No.
Indeed, I have not.
I have been busy! Very busy!
I tried to make vanilla yogurt yesterday and it waaaas...not a success.
So today I made just plain yogurt and I will put a spoonful of raspberry freezer jam into it - and will warm the cockles of my little heart so.
A different day I will try the vanilla again-it was my freeze dried yogurt starter that was the problem, its all good now.
Also, I have been going to play dates with Tiny Dancer, swinging in her swing and going for walks in the early morning when it's still cool. And planing the spot for a small sand pile.
I have also been industrious-
Yes indeedy my friends, I have been making a rug exactly like this one-

Only a little bit different...
The one I am doing is not this color or style. This one was made by Yvonne and it is braided from wool and polyester scraps. (It is really old clothing and sometimes old bedding, cut into strips and then made into something new again-Great isn't it?!)
Yes. Anyway, mine is also being made from old bedding and scraps, it is being crocheted using a big wooden hook made form an old chair rung.
I will show you pictures when I get er done.

Annnd-we have new neighbor's across the street. They parked their truck back wards in the drive way while they were moving in and the sun reflected off the windshield in the afternoons right into our windows making it very bright indeed while I was sitting there minding my own business and crocheting like crazy, when I glanced to the side-
what ?!-
I looked again---
My MOM was sitting there!!
She died in 2005!!! See the problem?
Ok, it could have been her shadow-but it was mine!!!
I knew you wouldn't believe it so I had to show you-

Huh?! I told you didn't I?!

July 4th Week End

We had a lot of fun!! We are lucky enough to have 2/3 of our family together for the Holiday.

I made a couple of salads and a pineapple upside down cake and we headed for the Bay.The 4th was overcast until we decided to head in and eat...

Honey made one of his famous "moist pork" roast...but before we came home we had time to play...

Here the flag goes up when some one takes a spill.

The water was choppy and the breeze was a little nippy...

But they tried to do some Lake/Bay surfing...

Tiny Dancer would wave to who ever fell and yell, "Dye-dye, seeya! she would then start calling "Ware-youuu?" until she could spot them and then she would laugh.

Tiny Dancer's Daddy gave surfing a try... Uncle B. gave him pointers and instructions and told him the most important thing of all-when you fall-LET GO OF THE ROPE!
Auntie A. was able to surf for the longest time on the 4th!!!
On the 5th our beautiful green eyed girl was up and wake boarding and she looked like she was having a blast even though the water was still a little choppy.

Between turns the kids would play in the water for a while so they wouldn't get bored. Here they are waiting for the waves to come their way...

Next Uncle B. was up to surf. You can't really tell from this picture but the wake is really quite big, it helped that Gramp and myself were sitting in the back to help that along.

Here is another first try, after receiving instructions from Auntie A. our blue eyed girl was ready to give knee boarding a go...

on the 5th when the sun came out you could find the girl's were all girls love to be at this age...

There were a lot of blue dragonfly's and this little guy found our brown eyed boy irresistible!

Her goes our brown eyed boy now-looking relaxed isn't he...

Next it was that blue eyed boy's turn to surf. He and his dad have a bit of a thing going to see who can go the longest-a little competition can be a good thing.

the spills are part of the fun-usually-every now and again they would take one that would hurt-this wasn't one of those.

Play break again...

Hanging out with cousin's is fun.

This time a little blue dragonfly was content to sit in Mr. Blue eye's hand for a while..

It tried to go, but kept coming back for visits...

So as you can see we had a good time on the Bay. We had good eat's, good company, and fireworks...
What more could you ask?!
And I was so excited to get a black & white dragonfly to pose for me on the 2nd I had to show you!

Grasshopper ! ! !

Our week end started out with a grasshopper.
Her first grasshopper and was she ever excited!!

He was little and bright green,

He could climb the sides of the bottle and even the top!

"Seee!!" "Iseeeit!!"

"ha ha ha ! Oh Boyyye!"
She thought he should get out to play...

Mommy and Gram thought he should not.
She thought they were starting to see eye to eye.

She liked to look at him and when she was done she handed it back to me and told me "dye-dye" and so we took him out side and let him go, she waved and called "dye-dye" and she cried when he jumped away....then she saw another and it was all new again.
It's so fun to see children as they discover the wonders of the world around them-I harbour a fear of grasshoppers. But I am glad I got this little green one to come visit for a while.

The day after the long 4th of July week end.
We had a blast!! And of course I have tons of pictures!

But for the time being I must tend to my chores.

Then I will sit down and tell you about our week end.

In the mean time, I had to give you this picture to enjoy.
Tis a little quirky is it not?
